Five day, 40-hour (or many more) work weeks were not created for modern life.

The current working model is not working. People full of empathy and compassion are overwhelmed and driven for quality and effectiveness. How do we help, without hurting ourselves in the process? How do we live out our life’s purpose, if we aren’t even able to live our lives to the vibrancy in which it was intended?

  1. Movement
    • Working 5 days a week and never walking around is killing us – our bodies are not meant for this
    • Non-exercise perpetuates non-exercise and the energy becomes STUCK in our bodies and manifests into disease. Then we overworkout and that backfires like a steel slap to the face. The more we age, the worse this backfire becomes.
    • We need to exercise, and dedicate ourselves to doing so, EVERY DAY
  2. Empathy requires refilling of the cup even more frequently
    • We need to say no
    • We need self-care MORE often
    • We need to stick to a daily 30 minute meditation practice no matter what
    • We need to journal and therapy and talk out the issues
    • We aren’t meant to work ALONE. We are meant to discuss and come up with strategies and treatment plans with a partner, with a team
  3. Time management
    • The hardest part of knowing this all, is implementing it
    • We need rigid schedules, prioritization, dedication and to stop winging things
    • We need to find where we can say NO to, and then stick to those NOs, even when we don’t β€œwant” to, or feel we β€œshould” do it
    • We need to stop the numbing activities (oversleeping, social media, video games, TV, drinking, edibles, etc.)
    • We need to list out our to-do list, then prioritize it, then just get up and do it

Aim to Zen

Writer, creator, co-conspirer, woman, mother, employee, fighter, family member and friend. Using two decades of training experience the aim is to bring to life research findings on quality of life improvement. The aim is to start a revolution, a community of women who step into their power and reject the notion that we must feel responsible for doing it all. We will lift each other up with relatable stories, a laugh or two, and a spirit of community.
